Ron Paul: The Candidate For Columbus?

With all the support for Ron Paul on the Internet, I thought I would see what Columbus' online population thought of the Presidential Candidate.

Who Is Ron Paul?
Congressman Ron Paul is the leading advocate for freedom in our nation’s capital. As a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Dr. Paul tirelessly works for limited constitutional government, low taxes, free markets, and a return to sound monetary policies. He is known among his congressional colleagues and his constituents for his consistent voting record. Dr. Paul never votes for legislation unless the proposed measure is expressly authorized by the Constitution. In the words of former Treasury Secretary William Simon, Dr. Paul is the “one exception to the Gang of 535” on Capitol Hill.

Ron Paul has been called a long-shot maverick candidate, but his high success on the internet coupled with a mass amount of viral, grassroot supporters has pushed him in to the top tier of the 2008 Presidential elections.

For more information about Ron Paul and his campaign, visit the official campaign site.

What do you think of Ron Paul, is he the candidate for Columbus?

Couldn't agree more!

I've followed Ron Paul for over 20 years. He's a 10-term congressman who's received virtually no press, therefore has limited name recognition and few who know enough to really appreciate what all he stands for (and against), despite being one of the very top financial minds in Congress. When he does get "mainstream media" attention, it's virtually always heavily edited and/or with a very negative slant on it. I was thrilled to find out there are a number of others in Columbus who are enthused about Congressman (Dr.) Ron Paul. He's been entirely consistent in all his years in Congress, is by far the most honest "politician" in Washington, and answers questions directly, with facts, rather than hedging his answers to try to appeal to a broad range of voters without saying much of anything for fear of losing votes. Lobbyists don't even visit his office - they know not to bother, because he won't spend taxpayers' money on "pork" or special interests. He's recently won 5 straw polls in five states, took 2nd place in 5 more, and has far more actual supporters than the "press" will acknowledge in their structured polls. Amazingly, this is a man who's gaining support from Republicans, Democrats, and independents, despite running as a Republican. The Party keeps money OUT of his district, has tried to run other candidates to replace him, but he just keeps winning with overwhelming majorities in his heavily agricultural district in Texas, despite the fact that he does not believe in spending taxpayers' money to subsidize agriculture (from the federal level). They recognize his honesty and integrity, and find those qualities far more important than how much he can "steal" from other Americans to subsidize his voters just to win re-election.  His motto is basically that if it isn't in the Constitution, he won't vote for it. One would have a hard time going wrong with that vote! Please take an honest look at the sites provided by the original poster, and then don't waste your vote on "the lesser of two evils" in the primary early next year. If you want far less government control and intrusion in your life, far less tax taken from your paycheck, far less meddling in other country's affairs and making more friends than enemies, and you truly believe the Constitution of the United States is not just a "[blankety-blank] piece of paper" as one highly placed national leader called it, there's no other choice than Ron Paul in the Primary, and then in the November election in 2008. I haven't been this energized about a candidate in decades - literally! Glad to see there is a rapidly growing number who agree.

I agree!

Ron Paul is the first presidential candidate I've ever been truly enthusiasitic about voting for.  If you think anything at all about him based on what you've seen or heard from the MSM (Mainstream Media), just set aside your conclusions and go to YouTube.  Search for "Candidates at Google" and watch the hour long interview he did for them.  I think it's the quickest way to get a good overview of who Dr. Paul is.

RE: Can a Good leader win?

I sure hope so. Sound decisions. Sound logic.
